2010 Ayer/Dunstable/Shirley/Littleton Division One Rules
Littleton/Ayer/Shirley Division One rules are the same as the Macintosh Minor League rules with the following amendments:
1. The pitching distance should be 42 feet.
2. No stealing is permitted.
3. No advancement on passed balls is permitted.
4. On deck batting is not allowed.
5. Rainouts and incomplete games are made up at the discretion of the League Presidents. Teams should contact their town coordinator immediately following the called game to determine if it can be rescheduled. In the event of a game being cancelled, it is recorded as a tie.
6. In the event of schedule overlaps between Mac League games and Division One games, the Mac League game takes precedence and must move its location or starting time.
7. A team may field 10 players. The tenth player must be a fourth
outfielder, and may not play in the infield.
8. Runners are prevented from advancing once the ball is returned to the pitcher’s mound (not the rubber).
Example 1: Runner on second base. Base hit to left field. Runner passes third base as the pitcher is getting the ball on the mound and goes on to score. Umpire should call the ball dead and send the runner back to third.
Example 2: Runner on second base. Base hit to left field. Runner is halfway home as the pitcher is getting the ball on the mound. Umpire should call the ball dead and allow the runner to score. The intent is for the players to make the correct baseball play, when the runner is ½ way, the play should be ahead of the runner, if thrown to the mound the runner is awarded the base since they were ½ way.
9. Teams need to field 7 players within 15 minutes of the starting time in order for the game not to be forfeited. In the event of a forfeit, every attempt should be made to still play a game.
10. Innings that pitchers accrue during a game that is rained out or cancelled due to darkness are still part of that pitcher’s innings for that week.
11. No pitcher may pitch more than 4 innings in one game.
12. Infield fly rule is not in effect
