Rookie baseball is designed for those children aged 7-8, or in grades 1-2. Littleton typically runs a Rookie Division program in each of the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
- The purpose of Rookie League is to be instructional for the kids and provide the greatest opportunity for learning the game of baseball in a safe and enjoyable environment
- Rookie-1 is designed for 1st graders and is an "in-town" program against other Littleton teams. This division serves as initial foundation for skills development, and is entirely coach-pitch . Games are typically on Saturdays and played at Shattuck Field.
- Rookie-2 is for 2nd graders, is a "travel" program against teams from nearby towns and the first time the kids begin pitching
- We stress practice time over game play and even during games, continue with instruction over competition
- Coaches from all teams should use every opportunity to explain, direct, correct, and support all players regardless of team (e.g. a first base coach for one team should help the 1st baseman with positioning and fielding mechanics)
- We ask that you commit to at least one weeknight practice and one game per week.
